VoIp : Voice over IP (also
called VoIP, IP Telephony, and Internet telephony) refers to technology
that enables routing of voice conversations over the Internet or any
other IP network. Basically, it means that you can use your phone
through your internet connection versus your regular traditional phone
line.
IP : Short for Internet
Protocol.
Telephony: The telephone or phone
is a telecommunications device that transmits speech by means of
electric signals.
Internet: A network of computer
networks which operates world-wide using a common set of protocols.
General Definitions Of Basic Features
3-way Calling: You can have a
phone conversation with 2 other people at one time.
Caller ID With Name: Displays the
phone number and name of the incoming call.
Caller ID: Displays the phone
number of the incoming call.
Call Waiting: Allows you to answer
an incoming call even if your already speaking to someone.
Call Forwarding: Give you the
option of having an incoming call routed to different phone number.
Useful if your expecting a call and are unable to be at home.
Call Transfer: Is the ability to
transfer a call to another phone number.
Call Return: Missed a call that
were expecting? No problem, with this feature you can call the last
number that tried to call your line.
Caller ID Block: Allows you to
block your phone number and name when making a call.
Visual Call Waiting: Allows you to
see the phone number that is calling you while you are on an existing
call.
Voice Mail: Built in answering
machine service.
7 Digit Dialing: With this feature
you only have to dial the last 7 digits of a local phone number, no area
code needed.
Distinctive Rings: You can assign
a specific ring tone for a specific phone number.
Do Not Disturb: You can turn off
the ringer and forward your incoming calls directly to you voicemail
with this feature.
